REMATEC 2015 – Vitobello Ricambi

In order to get to know an industry better, one must first experience it, and trade fairs are an excellent opportunity to learn more about it. The recent Dutch event was an interesting showcase for industry players.

In Amsterdam, as it happens every two years, from 14 to 16 June, ReMaTec, the Remanufacturing (both automotive and heavy duty) trade fair took place, organised by RAI Management with the cooperation of APRO (Auto Parts Remanufacturesr Association) and FIRM (International Association of Engine Rebuilders and Remanufacturers).

As is usually the case, the fair was small in size (it occupied two halls and could also be visited in one day), but for those in the industry it was crucial because it brought together the 240 companies (from 25 different countries) that matter.

The companies were mostly manufacturers of special machines and test benches, components, overhaul specialists or the divisions within large groups dealing with remanufacturing.

Major exhibitors include Knorr-Bremse, Meritor, Exedy, Remy and Valeo.

Many Italian companies, which in terms of the number and quality of their offerings, took the lion’s share.

EMMETEC and ORPAV had one of the largest and certainly one of the most beautiful stands at the fair and presented two great new products. Firstly, the Vinci series of test benches for testing electric power steering pumps, EPS column and rack-and-pinion pumps. Then, all the components (sleeves, guides, special tools, manuals… ) for overhauling electronically adjustable shock absorbers (mostly Bilstein and ZF) generally fitted to cars with air suspension (Audi, Bentley, BMW, Mercedes Benz, Porsche, Range Rover, Volkswagen… ), and given the uproar, we will be looking at the subject in more detail in the coming months in Il Giornale del Meccanico!

GEVI, manufacturer of special bearings and the best alternator pulleys on the market, presented the ongoing range extensions, as well as the TC-1000, the alternator pulley for Mercedes Actros and Axor. EDB (Emporio della Batteria), offered its own range of reconditioned alternators. Vitobello Ricambi exhibited components for the overhaul of ERA engines and Ghibaudi Mario, exhibited electrical and electronic components.

The areas of greatest interest were engines, automatic transmissions, air conditioning compressors, alternators, starters, turbochargers, power steering and related mechanical pumps, EPS, shock absorbers, transmissions, power brakes, injectors and related pumps. The next appointment is set for November in Las Vegas (where Il Giornale dell’Aftermarket will be present) and for June 2017 again in Amsterdam. To the Italy of revision, our sincerest wishes.
